When you hear March Madness, the first thing that may come to mind is NCAA Basketball. The reason why it's called that way is because during this month, the NCAA Basketball tournament which host major colleges in the US, have so many games being played all across the land as they reach the final leg of the tournament to determine what is known as the Final Four teams.
But my version of March Madness goes like this...
It has been a grueling yet fulfilling month so far for me. Going into the final week of February, I started my Lean Six Sigma Training. LSS is a certification program where participants will be tasked to define and analyze a particular pain point in a company, and devise and improve on processes that are considered as the problem in itself. Simple as it may sound, problem-solving is not that easy. Especially when numbers are involved. (I now hate math more than ever)
Of course if I am in training for 8 hours a day, that means my tasks at the office are put on hold. Having an average of 300 emails a day is not fun nor does it put a smile on my face, no matter how positive my thinking is. But I keep reminding myself that it's better having a job than none at all. Thus, I have to extend my hours so I could at least address the high level and urgent matters of the site. What can I say, you really have to love your job to keep on going.
And then there is the MVP Olympics. A week long event where all the companies of the most powerful businessman in the Philippines (Manny V. Pangilinan) compete in over 2 dozen sporting events. Aside from the usual competitive sports such as basketball, volleyball, badminton, table tennis and track and field, there are fun games like tug-of-war, fruit relay, dodge ball, kart racing, and the "patintero". If you're not into sports, the MVPO has the Singing Idol competition, dance competition, cheer dance competition and the Talentodo nights, where individuals can showcase any of their unique talents.
Madness does not entirely speak of you going crazy nor does it mean that everything around you is in total chaos. It can pertain to excitement or any high-strung situations that pumps up your blood and brain cells due to several events happening all at the same time.
And so this is my madness.
This is...(I would like to say Sparta?)
