It is always a wonderful feeling whenever you do a good deed. It puts a smile on your face and a warm and light feeling inside. Wouldn’t you want to feel that way everyday?
In my line of work, each day may seem that I am doing a good deed. But as Human Resources, it is a job function to help people out and make them happy. So doing my job does not classify as a good deed. But it somewhat gives that same feeling of fulfillment whenever you are able to resolve one’s issue. So what classifies as a good deed? For me, it is an act that is selfless, spontaneous, and has truly helped or brought happiness to the recipient, without expecting anything in return.
One day, I challenged myself if I can do one good deed a day…it’s not as easy as you may think. Some deeds may turn out beneficial to you, some would seem obligatory, and some folks would truly insist on giving a reward.
What I am envisioning is the same concept of “Pay it Forward”. You do a geed deed to a stranger and that stranger does not repay you for that good deed but instead pays forward the kindness or does a good deed to some other stranger.
Helping a stranger on the side of the road with his or her car, cleaning your neighbor’s front yard, you received a bonus but instead donated it to charity. These are some of those deeds that you may consider noble acts. Seems easy to do, but can you?
So, what good deed have you done today?
